I do a lot of things at home!! I definitely recycle all my recyclables and throw away all my trash. I also make sure that, when my family puts recyclables in the wrong recycling bin, that I put it back in the right bin. I recycle at school to! I also conserve water by not leaving the water on when brushing my teeth. I also save power by turning off the lights when I don't need it.

This week we want to know: What's your favorite clothing item on MiniMonos and why.

Here is a picture of a monkey -- quite a hard one, I suppose!

Your job is to tell me what type of monkey it is!

Here are some clues to help you:

Its coat and face are mainly black, while the throat and the outside side of its arms are white, and its hips and back are orange. The body length varies between 40 and 55 centimetres and its weight is normally between 4 and 7 kilograms.

I have a fact quiz for you!

Below is a picture of a monkey -- who can guess what type it is?

Clues: This monkey primarily eats fruits, but occasionally eats leaves and other organic things. They are an important food source due to their large size and are widely hunted by local human populations; they are also threatened by habitat destruction due to logging and land clearing.

It also has a very long tail which it uses to help swing around.

Here is another little hint: Its name comes from a bug.

Hmmm... my favorite Minimonos game would be Tic Tac Poo. Although it has the weirdest name, it is one of my favorites. I love this game because you have a whole lot of fun making four in a row and it is a multiplayer game so you can verse your friends. I really also like this game because it makes us monkeys understand that "poo" isn't just a funny word but it can be used as a compost for energy. That is my favorite game!

Bananatastic just posted on the Party Master blog about a new contest! This is what he said:

Are you creative, artistic, or like a challenge? The Monthly Masterpiece is a NEW monthly challenge right here on the MiniMonos Party Master blog! This monthly challenge will be replacing the Video of the Month competition.

How it works: Monkeys will be asked to create some form of art based upon a new theme each month which will be posted on this blog! Some things participants will can make are drawings by hand, computer drawings, paintings, videos, comic strips, and sculptures! Any piece of art will be accepted into the competetion as long as it matches the theme.

All particpants will have a month to complete their piece of art, which gives you heaps of time to make it really AWESOME!

The first Monthly Masterpiece theme will be announced at See You Sunday! We'll also let you know the prizes, too!

We've gone bananas, crazy, snow, candy canes, ghosts, easter eggs, shamrocks, holly, pie time, and now... it's time to GO GREEN!

On January 29th every monkey on MiniMonos island is encouraged to GO GREEN because I am throwing a HUGE go green party with the help of MonkeyRock and MiniJghRocks!

Each party that we've thrown recently has been known to make MiniMonos history as the, "Biggest party on MiniMonos". With that being said, this is clearly one party that you DO NOT want to miss!

Monkey Fact Monday: Caquetá Titi

Hey, monkeys!
This week I wanted to share some facts about monkey that was discovered only a few years ago in the Amazon Rainforest! It's a kind of titi monkey, called the Caquetá Titi.

Only around 250 of them are left in the world, which I think is very sad! Agricultural practices there are breaking up their habitat and making it hard for them to get to newer feeding areas. The Caquetá Titi monkeys live in a very small area of the Amazon Rainforest -- they only live in an area that is about 3.86 square miles in size.

Their fur is usually brown, and they have a lighter colored tail and a reddish-brown belly, neck and cheeks.
They're about the size of a cat and live in very small groups, usually made up of only 4-5 monkeys -- an adult pair who stay together for life, and their offsping that aren't fully mature yet.

Monkey Fact Monday: All About Tigers

Hey Everymonkey!
It's me Doggy! I've noticed that on MiniMonos we are trying to save tigers! So, what better topic to post about than TIGERS!

Tigers live about 10-15 years in the wild, but have been found to live up to 20 years if they are in captivity. They are territorial and usually solitary animals (this means they don't travel or hunt in groups). Their territories can cover many miles of land. This is one of the main reasons why human actions are putting them closer and closer to being extinct -- destruction of their habitat is a serious problem, along with illegal poaching and hunting of tigers.

Two-thirds of the tiger subspecies have already gone extinct and the remaining 6 kinds of tigers left are all endangered. Some are even marked as highly endangered!

Tigers are pretty cool aren't they? They are the largest of all the big cats on earth! It's really important that people realize how special these big cats are we band together to try and save them! It's a good thing we are doing here at MiniMonos to help them.

Monkey Fact Monday: Sloths

MoniMini here! I was just going through animals which live in the canopy level of the rainforests (like monkeys) when I got some BANANAMAZING facts on Sloths! Hope you like them!

Sloths move very slowly! They're so slow that some people call them lazy! xD They usually have grey or brown fur, it can look like their fur is green because they move so slowly that algae grows all over their furry coats!!!!

Sloths can stay in a single tree for years! That’s really BANANARIFFIC! They're built for living life upsidedown! They have long arms and long, strong claws that help them hang out in the trees.

The most amazing thing about sloths is that they sleep upside-down for up to 18 hours a day! Sloths are nocturnal animals (animals which are active mostly at night) and can even sleep curled up so they look like part of the tree they're sleeping in. This helps them hide from predators like jaguars!

Monkey Fact Monday: Howler Monkeys

Hey Monkeys!
Sonic4572 here with some awesome facts about the loudest monkeys of all! Howler Monkeys!
I'm sure you can guess the reason they're called Howler Monkeys, right? Yep, you guessed it! Because they howl! They howl to warn other monkeys about incoming predators, or to scare other monkeys away from their territory, or area. Their howl can be heard up to a mile away! That's a pretty long way xD

Did you know that Howler Monkeys have one of those handy tails that is prehensile? They can hold things (even very small things) with their tail, and also hang from branches from only their tail, if they want to! That's a pretty strong tail! A really cool thing about their tail is that it has a fingerprint on the underside of its tip (the last part of the tail there is only skin, not fur). Each tail has a unique pattern of fingerprint!

Viper and Bananatastic land in Michigan!

Viper and Bananatastic have arrived at the Meaningful Play 2010 conference in Michigan, where they are representing MiniMonos! Already there has been drama and fun!

It started with Bananatastic's first airplane flight, safe arrival in Michigan and checking into his cool hotel. As he unpacked the goodies he and Viper will be using for their MiniMonos demonstration, here are some pictures he sent:

Viper, on the other hand, had some dramas! After flying into Detroit for a connecting flight to East Lansing, Michigan, Viper found out that her connecting plane had left early!! And there was no other flight until the next morning, which meant she would have been late for the conference. Luckily, resourceful Viper found a connecting bus service, jumped on the bus and finally, last night, arrived in Michigan. Phew! What a long day she had!

Do you know that although Viper and Bananatastic have been good online buddies for ages, this is the first time they have actually met face-to-face!

Both Viper and Bananatastic have been attending conference sessions today. Now they are getting ready to present MiniMonos to the conference delegates at a special games expo this evening. They have their MiniMonos t-shirts on, MiniMonos business cards ready, are about to pick up a load of MiniMonos balloons that are being filled with helium and will be setting up the MiniMonos table with some other fun stuff (which we'll show you) and their laptops, ready to go!

They both tell me they're having heaps of fun. I'll keep you posted about how their MiniMonos demo goes!

Banantastic's MiniMonos Halloween Party!

Hey Monkeys!
It's October and Halloween is on its way. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I know a lot of you monkeys enjoy Halloween too! Lately, a lot of monkeys have been asking me if I am going to be having a Halloween party and the answer is YES! I am going to be having a Halloween party the day before Halloween, because obviously on Halloween you'll be trick-or-treating getting CANDY! Check out the invitation below for details!

The party is going to be HUGE and tons of fun! We will play games and tons more just like we did at my last party. Banana Chips and Shells will be given away to some lucky monkeys! Tons of the staff will be present too!
Everymonkey who comes to this party is going to see the releaase of some new SPECIAL EFFECTS that have never been seen before on MiniMonos Island! Sweetness!

Deb started her career writing Saturday morning cartoons for the Pink Panther and soon transitioned to becoming a world-renowned childrens game expert. She has worked with some very famous characters, including Curious George, Blue of Blues Clues, and all of the 101 Dalmatians, and has created many award-winning titles for children and grownups. Deb has 27 published titles in books, games, and television, and loves bridging the worlds of technology and entertainment and education, especially for kids.

Deb's passion is designing fun education into games, and believes that playing games can be a great way for kids to learn!

World Builder: Paul Abrahams ("Badgerfox")

Paul is one of our technical gurus and father to a gorgeous baby girl! Known as "Badgerfox" on MiniMonos, he's one of the most popular staff members on the island. His wife is helping him learn to appreciate where our food comes from by introducing him to the concept of a town garden (otherwise referred to as an edible oasis).

Paul is a complete gaming addict who's been making game systems since he was 7 and building commercial software for 10 years, and MiniMonos brings together his multiple passions -- games, kids, and a passion for the environment -- in one place.

World Artist: David Wheadon ("Weado")

David is our world artist, and the man who makes all our cool treehouse items! He's got two boys, one 8 and one 7 years old. His visual aesthetics show up in web apps (he's been designing them for more than ten years), Photoshop, and his love of photography.

David loves wildlife and often takes his boys out looking for spiders and wetas, and never says no to his wife's cooking (burp!).

Moderator: Gwen Walton-Wegener ("Manx")

Gwen is one of our moderators dedicated to keeping MiniMonos a safe and fun place for kids to enjoy. She describes herself as a geek who enjoys mmorpg-type games and reading every day. As a huge animal lover, she is owned by three cats (one of which is a manx), a turtle and a few dozen fish. Her passion for animals is one of the main reasons she is striving to have a more sustainable and eco-friendly life.

One of the new games to MiniMonos is called Tic Tac Poo! It's a really funny and awesome game to play. With this game, it is also multiplayer which means you need to play with someone else. Let's get started!

To get to the game you need to go to the Compost Zone and walk up to the monkey!

He will then ask you to play Tic Tac Poo, click Play! But, if you want to go over the rules again then click Tell me the rules!

Tow in the game, you have to shoot poo on the board. There is “X” and “O” and depending on the situation you could be in “X” or “O”. Lastly, just throw the poo on the board and the player who gets the most of their letter “X” or “O” on the board wins the game!

GoGo Green is an awesome game on MiniMonos and is very popular! Here I will be telling you everything you need know about how to play GoGo Green! Let's get started.

To get to the GoGo Green game, go to the Recycling Center, and walk up to the monkey!

He will then ask you to play R.A.T.S or GoGo Green, you can play R.A.T.S but for now let's play GoGo Green! You can view the rules for GoGo Green by clicking Tell more about GoGo Green!

The game is really easy, all you have to do is match up the 3 same objects in a row. Like so:

Lots of monkeys on MiniMonos know about a awesome game called Monkey Fist! I will be giving you a awesome guide on how to play this game. Let's get started!

To get to the Monkey Fist game, go to the Long Beach, and walk up to the monkey called Wu Lee.

He will then ask you to play Monkey Fist, click Play! But, if you want to go over the rules again click Tell me the rules!

When you are in the game, you will be playing with over 3+ players! You will need to pick one of the 4 carved characters at the bottom of your screen. You can choose from: Crane, Tiger, Snake and Dragon! Make sure to pick quickly because you will only get about 4-6 seconds to choose!

When you have chosen one of your characters, your player will make a move in resemblance to that character, the objective of the game is to never have the same character the same as Wu Lee, who is the monkey on the side. Seems easy? It can be more difficult once you get used to the game!

Have fun on this game, and make sure to win games to get higher color armbands! This will show your power of Monkey Fist to all your buddies!

MiniMonos Monkey Flight Game Guide!

Many monkeys on MiniMonos know a game called Monkey Flight! I will be giving you a awesome guide on how to play this game. Let's get started!

For this game you have to collect clouds that are in the sky for energy which keeps you flying! To get to this game you need to go to Kittyhawk Bluff, which is the icon at the top of your map.

To get playing the game, click Play!

In the game, use your up, right, down and left keys to navigate your way through the sky and collect the clouds. If you run out of energy, you will fall down the sky and possibly if your lucky land on a trampoline to bounce you back up into the sky! This is useful if you are unable to collect clouds.

NOTE: Make sure don't collect black/thunder clouds, for they will make you have less energy! If your lucky you will be able to make the High Scores for Monkey Flight!

MiniMonos R.A.T.S Game Guide!

MiniMonos really loves to Go Green, and help the environment. So, one of their main games is called R.A.T.S! This game will allow you to recycle the trash you can in your tree house. You can do this by going to the Recycle Area.

Then, just go up to the monkey with the blue clothes on and you will start playing R.A.T.S!

So, what you have to do is to put the objects that come on the conveyor belt into the right groups. Their are Plastic, Glass, Paper & Cardboard, Metal and Food. Watch out though, the bird may take your items and make you loose points!
